I recently bought an eSky Big Lama helicopter and I tell you this is the best RC helicopter you can get for beginners. Primarily because this has a simulation disk that you can run on your computer, you can practice flying your helicopter without the risk of damaging your real helicopter, you can actually be really good flying the simulation program that when you fly your RC helicopter you will have an edge over those who are flying it the first time. eSky Big Lama is a big 4 channel helicopter designed for outdoor flying. It is also one of the most easy to fly RC helicopter and able to withstand more crashes than the next best RC helicopter.

The heart and soul of your RC helicopter greatly depend on your ability to control it from the ground using the remote control. You will have to master the remote control to be a good RC helicopter pilot; you do this by reading and carefully understanding the manual. Next is to practice and get familiar on how to use every stick and switches on the remote control. Here are the most common controls you need to master to successfully fly your helicopter.

Left Stick control, these are the throttle and pitch control and can move the helicopter up and down. You will need to learn how to hover at a stable height; once you have learned how to have your helicopter hover stably it will be much easier for you to move around forward and backward using the right stick control.
Right Stick control, you use this to move forward or backward and for rotation clockwise or counter clockwise to the direction you would like to move. The cyclic rotation controls the tail rotor. The gyro will help your helicopter move to the right direction by giving you control over where you helicopter should face.
Other controls vary depending on your RC helicopter models; it may have flying level switch, rotation stability control and other great stuff.

Flying a RC helicopter takes some time and practice to learn, unlike RC planes and cars where controls are very much simple and basic, RC helicopter controls is a little abstract and would really take time to comprehend. Have fun and enjoy the process of learning to fly RC helicopter once you become very good at it, you will get a deeper appreciation of this hobby.
