Ultralight

 

Pretty much self-explanatory. The ultralight range is Big Agnes lightest weighing tents to date. Materials and fabrics are lighter than ever used before in the Big Agnes range.

 

The ultralight series consist of three types – Copper Spur (price range $ 349 – $ 500), Fly Creek ($ 300 – $ 500) and Three Wire Bivy ($ 300).

 

The Big Agnes ultralight tents are ideal for backpackers who don’t want to be weighed down by heavy tents. Ultralight tents are so easy to setup, you will have it erected in no time.

 

Copper Spur and Fly Creek tents are waterproof and can be used for three seasons.

 

Superlight

 

Big Agnes Superlight tents are naturally a step up from the ultralight range. There are mainly three styles available in the superlight series. Emerald Mountain (price ranges $ 300 – $ 400), Seedhouse ($ 250 – $ 320) and Slide Mountain ($ 500 – $ 600).

 

The Emerald Mountain series caters for three seasons with a an impressive waterproof coating. This tent is ideal for backpackers. It may not be as light as the ultralight but it is little more durable and bit better quality in our opinion.

 

The great aspect about the Seedhouse series is the fantastic ventilation system made possible by the tents mesh body.

 

Seedhouse colour is Titanium Green giving it a sleek contemporary look.

The Slide Mountain is an impressive looking structured tent. Easy to climb in with a double door vestibule. This tent also has excellent ventilation. Its understandable spacious size has bumped the price up.

 

We recommend the Seedhouse series for its great value.

 

Backpacking

 

Even though the Ultralight and Superlight tents are more than useful for backpackers, the backpacking range is specifically targeted towards them. these include: Gore Pass (price ranges from $ 280 – $ 340), Hager House ($ 300), Lynx Pass ($ 200 – $ 300), Salt Creek ($ 350) and Seedhouse ($ 190 -$ 270).

 

The Lynx Pass and Hager House series are fairly new to the market, thus we haven’t had chance to test and review them yet. Judging by the look and description of the tents they seem just as competent as the other superb backpacking tents available from Big Agnes.

 

All backpacking tents can house over 4 people. The weight is over 4lbs.

 

Of course the backpacking tents are lightweight and perfect for any backpacker. They also cater to three seasons and are free standing.

 

The Gore Pass comes in a classy rusty cream.

 

We at tents for camping are quite partial to the Salt Creek backpacking tent. Not only is the colour is a gorgeous white finish, but the truly unique feature here is that it is fully recycled, amazing when you view the tents and inspect its quality.

 

Mountaineering

 

Only two styles available here – the String Ridge (price range $ 500) and Royal Flush $ 700). These two tents are very similar in appearance and components it’s a wonder that there is a $ 200 difference in price. This is the main reason we would go with the String Ridge instead of Royal Flush.

 

Mountaineering tents are the more hardcore Big Agnes tents that are able to withstand all four seasons. You can fit 2 – 3 people inside.
